Now I have to post a list of three random facts about myself and give the award to three more people. Here goes.
1. I can't whistle.
2. I played flute in various groups from age 11-19. I still play occasionally.
This is a blurry picture someone took of me in orchestra rehearsal. Enjoy.
3. I have asthma. This is why I am strongly opposed to jogging.
Sometimes when I have an asthma attack and I'm wheezing, I sound like a dinosaur.
I hope you have learned a lot about me.
And now, in the spirit of doing things in threes, here are my three nominees for the Three Random Facts About Yourself Post.
1. Just Inappropriate (I love it when she lists random facts about herself!)
2. The Hubs (He swears he's going to start blogging again! Encourage him!)
3. MOV (Because she deserves an excuse to don her tiara.)
LOL your sooo cool i love your comics <3
ReplyDeleteI can't whistle either; it eventually leads to immediate annoyance towards the smug people who can
ReplyDeleteohmygosh ohmygosh ohmygosh I can't beleeeeeeve it! You gave me an award! and just in time for my post on you-really-really-like-me! You know, I was just polishing my tiara this morning, it's like it was meant to be or something.
ReplyDeleteI do not have an awesome cyber-frame like you, can I substitute one from Target? They have cool frames.
Anyway, I hope it is okay if I nominate you right back. I really want to know three more things about you (can favorite food be one? mine is pizza and ice-cream-- not together though, i don't like melty pizza, and I certainly don't like pizza-flavored ice-cream if there is such a thing).
best,
MOV
Target frames are perfectly acceptable and stylish. And yes, you may nominate me right back. The more excuses to talk about myself, the better!
ReplyDeleteYou can jog. You just need a wolf running behind you to make you do it.
ReplyDeleteHi Haley, just came over from that genius Gweenbrick. Your blog is fantastic! Very funny and I love your drawings. I'm absolutely hooked!!
ReplyDeleteI'm your newest follower or stalker...let's just see where it goes...
Love this. xD
ReplyDeleteAlso, nice new "Haley's Comic" Banner. c:
If you give me the size dimensions, I would totally wanna free commission you a cool Halloween banner.
You know us goths, we LOVE Halloween!
Hello Haley!
ReplyDeleteI am your new #1 Fan :) I stumbled upon your blog last week when I searched Google Images for "can't whistle." (Which, btw - I thought I invented that acronym too!! - is something that I cannot do either.) I was at work and when I clicked the link to go to your blog my company's security program classified it as "entertainment" and blocked it. I made a mental note to check it out when I got home then I printed your illustration to put on my cubicle wall along with the other comical and/or witty little snippets my co-workers and I find.
But don't worry!! I am not stealing your work! In fact, every time someone comments on it I tell them about your blog. I've told my daughter and my best friends about it as well and they think it's great too. Soooo, I am basking in the glory of being the first one to know about something cool. I just want to be honest and let you know that I'm absolutely going to ride your coattails and someday say, "Oh I was following her loooong before she had over a million followers, pfftt!!"
This morning I was looking through some images I have saved and one of them reminded me vaguely of your "Can't Whistle" and the mental post-it note I had scribbled on a few days ago fluttered onto the faux tiger rug on the floor of my brain. I have spent the better part of my day reading your entire blog and it enchanted me. I didn't want to seem like a weirdy and comment on all my favorites - "Loved this one!", "This one really made me LOL :)", "Hee, hee!!" - so I will do all that here because you deserve praise for all the laughs I enjoyed today as the result of your writing and art!
These are in no particular order, altough if Mov's Tony Robbins were forcing me to choose one I think I would pick Anorexi-Os!
YAAS - Agree!!! I'm constantly making myself sound lame to my 17 year old son and twenty-something co-workers by asking for acronym definitions. I still don't know what SMH means! WTF?!?
Anorexi-Os! - Ha, ha, ha! Love the subtitles, "fatty-fat-fats" and "Fatty McFatpants".
The Infinite Loop of Awkward - I agree that it has not gotten the attention it deserves.

ReplyDeleteI also really liked: The 5 Stages of Eating at a Mexican Restaurant, Financial Death Spiral, The Cat & The Bat, There Is No Trade-In for Kids, You Should be Sorry, This is How Much I Like Being Right, Rental Inspector, The Time I Got Food Poisoning on Christmas Eve, The Harry Potter Abridged Series and Pre-Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThe post about Sophie was endearing. Although I am not a cat lover, I'm not even a cat LIKER (sorry!), I AM a pet lover and my heartstring (I just have one!) was pulled while reading about her.
I found the site to be appealing and very user friendly. I like the links you provided when mentioning previous stories and the ease of navigation on the site. I do wish that you had some way to sort the posts oldest to newest because I wanted to read them in chronological order so I had to click on each year, then month then day/post or scroll up to the beginning of each story. Not really that big of a deal I guess but it would sure make it a lot easier for all the visitors who will be flocking to your site over the coming years!
I noticed your posts have been fewer and further between over the past year and that you mentioned you have been working on some illustrations for a friend. Do you anticipate having more or less time this year to dedicate to your blog than you did last year? How is the other project progressing? Are you close to revealing more info on your blog about it?
Sorry for rambling, I just thought you needed to know all of this because I know I like hearing how wonderful I am and I can imagine how much I would enjoy hearing about people I don't even know thinking something I created is worthy of hanging on their cube wall and telling the other completely-amazing-but-just-a-little-bit-off people in her life all about me!!
I know I probably seem like a stalker but I'm harmless (why is it that when you reiterate something if often has the opposite effect of what you intended?). Hey, if you want to tell everyone you have a blog stalker it's ok with me. It's sort of a rite of passage or something isn't it? Nevertheless, I look forward to seeing what you have for us next and saying "I followed her when..." because I believe you are going places lady!
Sincerely,
Michizzle, your long comments totally made my day. I must admit, in the blogging-world, long comments are usually from people who want me to buy something from them or write a 10,000-word post about a product they sell, but when I started reading yours I realized you were actually a real human being saying nice, awesome things. Thank you! I'm glad you found me and like me and are telling other people to find me and like me. Those are pretty much my favorite things for people to do, although world peace ranks at a close second.
ReplyDeleteTo answer a couple of your questions, there are some small links at the very bottom of each page (right above the copyright notice) that say "Older" and "Newer," if that makes navigation any easier. Or that might be one of those mysterious things that is only visible on my web browser and no one else's. But I definitely see them when I view the blog in Firefox.
I did end up blogging way less in 2012, although it wasn't on purpose and it made me pretty sad. The illustration project I was working on is due to be released THIS MONTH (aaahhh!), so hopefully I can make a big exciting announcement soon. I am going to try really, really hard to post more regularly from now on.
And now I have answered your long comments with a long comment! I didn't set out to do that, it just sort of happened. So now we are creepy stalkers together. Yay!
